Last Call (and what to bring) for DECA summer picnic on Saturday

We are a few days away from the picnic and need to finalize a few things. Most importantly, if you have not already done so, please RSVP to Mcbevec@comcast.net. We would hate to run out of food.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help out to get things organized and those who have volunteered to help the day or day after the picnic. We still have a few items that need to be covered so please take a look at the list and let me know what you can do.

As in years past DECA will provide burgers, hot dogs, and beverages. Families with names that end in A-L, please bring a side dish and those ending in M-Z please bring a dessert or an appetizer.

In the past, we have tried DECA’s Got Talent. We are hoping to have a DECA Open Mike Night. Anyone interested in participating or organizing it?

And thanks to Mrs. Bushnell for her electricity.

The DECA Summer Picnic is scheduled for July 30th, from 4pm to Dusk. We all have busy lives and it takes a lot to organize and prepare for the picnic. We are asking for your help to make this years picnic a success. We have itemized the tasks that need to be accomplished. If everyone helps out with one or two items on the list, it will make the picnic go considerably smoother. Take a look at the list and let me know what tasks that you can help with. Please email me at MCBEVEC@comcast.net.

Calling All Down East Neighbors for some support!

Thanks to all for their outpouring of support yesterday for the Santangelos. They, and their neighbor Ruth, are all much more comfortable now due to your generosities.

Today, James Saia has passed along a note about our neighbors, the Galbraiths. Please consider doing what you can to help our neighbors through a rough time.

"Sara Galbraith, who lives in our neighborhood, was in an auto accident and is in Paoli Hospital. Her parents have been by her bedside almost 24/7. Let's show our support and come up with suggestions to help this family. Some suggestions are - cut their grass, take turns making meals for 3, grocery shopping, running errands etc... Please mailto:galbraiths@verizon.net to ask what you can do for them."

URGENT! Your neighbors need your help this morning

Your neighbors at 9 Hillside Drive, the Santangelos, have been without air conditioning since yesterday. Their windows are open and fans running, but it's still oppressively hot in their house for anyone, but particularly for them given their age and condition.

Please, if you have a window a/c unit that you can spare as a loaner, contact me at bpk998@gmail.com.

And please use this also as a reminder to check in on your neighbors and family during this severe weather.

Thank you,
Bryan Kolesar

Many opportunities to buy fresh and local

In the last posting, I shared some outdoor night time music activities. Some of them allow you to bring outside food and beverage.

How best to prepare for these concerts than with some fresh and local goods?

Peak summer produce is becoming available. Add meats, cheeses, wines, beers, flowers, arts and crafts, and you have the making of some of the finest local farmers' and artisans' markets.

The Farmers Market at Great Valley

Website: http://www.eastwhiteland.org/recreation/About/Recreational%20Events.aspx

~ Open every Thursday through October, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
~ in Lower Parking Lot, Penn State Great Valley
~ 30 East Swedesford Road, Malvern

Come out and support your new community market. We have a great line up of growers and producers.
The Market's favorite market musician, singer, and songwriter, Chris Adams, plays beautiful classical guitar, sings songs old and new, favorites and originals. Kids love to sing with Chris, always a new song about a fruit or vegetable up his sleeve.

Phoenixville Farmers' Market

Website: http://www.phoenixvillefarmersmarket.org

~ Open every Saturday through November, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
~ under the Gay Street Bridge, accessed by Taylor Alley Phoenixville

The Phoenixville Farmers' Market is a producer/grower market committed to providing locally grown, fresh food; to preserving our agricultural heritage; and to building community.

East Goshen Farmers' Market

Website: http://www.eastgoshenfarmersmarket.blogspot.com

~ located on Paoli Pike just east of Route 352
~ watch for signs directing you to the Veteran's Pavilion

The East Goshen Farmers' Market Committee has taken great care to select the finest vendors for our market. This is a "producer only" market, meaning that whatever is sold at our market must have been grown or produced by the seller. Every attempt has been made to offer organic options whenever possible.
The Anselma Farmers' and Artisans' Market

Website: http://www.anselmamill.org/market.htm

~ Open every Wednesday through through October 26, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
~ in The Mill’s front field

We feature locally grown and organic produce, great food, and hand-crafted goods.

Media Farmers Market

Website: http://mediafarmersmarket.com

~ Open every Thursday through November 17, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
~ in Media Theater parking lot, on State Street between Monroe and Gayley Streets

Media Farmers Market has been organized by a dedicated group of volunteers who live in and around Media and is a producer-only market, with no third party selling. It will not be a flea market or arts and crafts market, but rather a fresh food market, emphasizing farm-produced goods from local growers. Local Media businesses and performing artists will be featured regularly.

Bryn Mawr Farmers Market

Website: http://brynmawrfarmersmarket.blogspot.com

~ Open every Saturday, rain or shine, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
~ in Bryn Mawr's Municipal Lot 7, Lancaster Ave at Morris Ave between Ludington Library and the Bryn Mawr Train Station

Bringing farm-fresh local produce to Lower Merion...Taste the Difference!

Oakmont Farmers Market

Website: http://oakmontfarmersmarket.org

~ Open every Wednesday through August 31, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., then through November 23, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
~ in the Oakmont Parking Lot
~ 2419 West Darby Road, Havertown

We are a producers-only market featuring locally-farmed vegetables, fruit, cheese, eggs and poultry, bison, beef, lamb, and flowers.
