Some information to pass along from the meeting on 9/7/08…

Back-to-School Ice Cream & Pizza Social and New Neighbor Welcome – come celebrate the start of a new school year, meet new neighbors and enjoy a Saturday night of no cooking!! We’ll order pizza and have make-your-own sundaes. Please bring your own beverages and $10 per family for pizza.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 13th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Down East Park

Hope to see you then!

Dues – DECA area reps will be collecting neighborhood dues in October. The rate is $20 per household; $15 for seniors. An optional $5 donation will help fund the Sunshine Club, which recognizes the comings and goings of Down East residents. This would include births and deaths, as well as moves into the neighborhood. When you return your dues, make sure to include a current email address to receive DECA info/updates online. This can be done on the DECA web page as well (check the right side of the screen). Thanks in advance for your support.

Fall Fest – Mark your calendars for the annual DECA Fall Fest!

WHEN/ WHERE: Saturday, November 1 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Beth Lane

Join us for a potluck supper, Halloween costume parade for the kids, and other fall-related activities – including a home brew demonstration by Adam Beck. Some of you tasted Adam's beer at the summer picnic, now you can see how it is actually made. This is in honor of "Teach a Friend to Brew Day."

Families whose last names begin with A - M should bring a dessert to share; N – Z an entrée or side dish. DECA will provide water or lemonade and hot chocolate – it’s BYOB for anything else. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs! RSVP to Karen Bevec (610) 651-5644 or mcbevec@comcast.net by October 25.

And, to get ready for the colder months ahead, we will be having a children’s snow clothes/boots swap table at the Fall Fest. Bring any coats, hats, mittens, snow boots, etc. your kids have outgrown or no longer need. Items should be in good condition. Trade up a size and save the hassle of going out and buying new!

DECA’s Night Out – New to our event calendar!
It’s an evening for adults to bend a few elbows with their neighbors at one of our fine local pubs. Details are coming soon. Look for an email update or posting at the front of the neighborhood. Note: This is not a DECA-funded event, just another opportunity for neighbors to get together.

Attention DECA Pet Owners: When you walk your pet around the neighborhood, please remember to bring a bag to pick up your pet’s waste. We’ve had some complaints about waste not being picked up. Your neighbors thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Attention All Drivers: For everyone’s safety, please be courteous while driving through the neighborhood. Keep your speed down and obey the stops signs. There are a good number of walkers, bikers and other drivers (including school buses) that frequent the neighborhood. Thank you.

Next DECA Meeting – TBA.

Have a fantastic fall season, and a Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Your DECA Board,
Karen Bevec -- President
Chris Brown -- Treasurer
Maria Hueston -- Secretary
